Almost 40 cats rescued in Lombard animal shelter fire

Firefighters rescued almost 40 cats during a severe fire Sunday night at an animal shelter in Lombard, according to the village.Shelter volunteers said 38 cats were being cared for at the time of the fire, according to a Monday update from the village. Firefighters rescued 36 cats, all appearing in good condition.
